Earth quake

Earth is one of those bands I discovered indirectly... I gave them a listen after hearing Boris' Akuma No Uta and Sunn O)))'s Black One, liking what I heard, and reading that they wouldn't exist without Earth. After that I really got into them and I have to say I´m a fan of all their albums... Starting with the pure drone and plate tectonic riffage of the first albums, through to the tumbleweed doom of Hex. And I have to say that The Bees Made Honey In the Lion's Skull is my favorite to date.... I've enjoyed the progression. The new album-- Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light I-- is not my favorite, but it's a good album and again, the artistic progression and choice of players is very nice. I really liked hearing Steve Moore play in Earth, but the cello on the new album changes things up and keeps Earth fresh. Anyway, all this to say that I came across this stream of Earth in concert at the NPR website and thought I´d share...

Earth live @ ATP Festival 2011

Also worth checking out:

Within the Drone (stream google video), a documentary available as DVD with this compilation album reworking some old tunes:

Earth - Hibernaculum (Southern Lord, 2007)

And this live album (also on Southern Lord) from around when I saw them play here is pretty good too:

Sweet dreams.
