Fabio Orsi - The New Year Is Over

Today I thought I´d just share a couple of new Fabio Orsi tracks from his bandcamp page. This guy is really great, and maybe a little under appreciated....

Find Electronica (A Silent Place, 2007) : 3 extended electronic pieces beautifully constructed, slowly developing, with breezy guitar samples growing and collapsing in on themselves... Nice blending of tones, drones, and melodies.



















Audio For Lovers (2xCD, Last Visible Dog, 2008) : CD 1 being a series of relatively short (for Orsi) tracks of billowing ambiance, pulsing drones, hidden melodies, and varied samples (nature recordings, guitar, etc...). A few tracks with piano, a bit neoclassical here and there, a little "post-rock" influence if that means anything to anyone anymore... But in my book CD 2 is what this album is all about.... It´s a compilation of earlier material previously released as limited edition CDrs mostly on Students of Decay. These are longer tracks that show Orsi´s more psychedelic side. Drones that grow into forests of sound.... more room for development and more space to wander around and get lost in.


























Picture Myself In A Cloud (Ruralfaune, 2008) : This is a really lovely CDr of two drone pieces which throb with endless possibility and lives of their own... Loops and samples are added slowly throughout to provide the melodic development while underlying pulses carry the rhythmic element. Perhaps an obvious formula for drone music, but Orsi´s sound palette and unique vision transcend the ordinary every time.






















Faded On The Blowing Of Winter (Akoustic Desease, 2007) : These are two absolutely excellent drones for reveling in the current wintry vibes...
